Drogheda Town U14 - 24th April 2016
Drogheda Town Under 14s continued their excellent form beating Dromin 3-2 today. Dave McEvoy opened the scoring after a great through ball by Sean White, to put us 1 up. Dromin then scored each side of half time to go ahead and turn up the pressure. What was most impressive was the DTFC response. Rather than letting their heads drop they quickly battled back to level the game, Sean White again in the right place at the right time. DTFC were now in command and pushing hard for a winner. Keeping the winning run alive, again it was White who pounced to score a vital winner. This latest win now sets the team up to close out the division as champions. One point is now needed away at Duleek to take the crown! So, get down to Duleek on Tuesday evening and cheer the boys on! As much support as possible would be greatly appreciated by the players.
Drogheda Town U12 Falcons - 17th April 2016
Drogheda Town Falcons U12's travelled to Square United in Adree on Sunday.
The players were raring to get playing on a beautiful sunny morning. Conor Ayers our assistant manager
put the lads through there paces in the warm up, then the now familiar battle cry of "FALCONS" came from the pre match huddle.
The match captain Evan Lynch (keeper) won the toss and Cormac Down and Patrick Keane tipped off. It was gearing up to be a tough match with both teams on similar positions in the league. The game got off to a frantic start with both teams contesting in the middle of the park. Josh Marry and Adam Butler made vital tackles in midfield feeding the forwards. Ahmed Alaga made blistering runs down the wing to get in behind the united defence only for the shots from Josh, cormac and Patrick to go wide.
At the other end of the pitch the defence was solid with Aaron English, Darragh McGuinness and Darragh McLoughlin all battling to keep the United forwards out. Evan Lynch made some great saves early on. After a rush forward by United, crowding the Drogheda Town box and knocking the keeper to the ground leaving him unable to do anything, Square United took the lead. The Drogheda Town defence were fantastic up to half time stopping wave after wave of United attack. Darragh McLoughlin made some great clearances as well as feeding the midfield. Aaron English was strong warding off the United attackers stopping them in their tracks and Darragh McGuinness commanded the defence helping out on both flanks as well as centre.
Half time brought some changes for D.T with Darragh Browne, Ignas Silickas and Cébhán Houshidari coming on to strengthen
the Drogheda Town side. The fresh players made an instant impact with Cébhán throwing himself into some amazing tackles and dazzling the Uited players with his dribbling skills. Ignas too made super runs splitting the United defence, playing through Ahmed to get a goal back for the Falcons.
Square to their credit came back at Drogheda Town and took the lead again. This didn't phase the Drogheda Town players and were once again on the attack, with Darragh Browne bringing the ball out of defence through midfield only to have Josh Marry's goal to be called offside. The Falcons put great pressure on Square which resulted in corner after corner whipped in by the boot of an in form Adam Butler. The away side were very unlucky not to have their constant pressure result in a goal. Drogheda Town fought to the very last kick and were frustrated with the result, but the result does not reflect the effort and skill that they showed in this game. This team is able to shake off this defeat and ready themselves for the next match.

Match report for the U12's, Sun. 8th Feb 2015
Walshestown Leopards 1 - 4 Drogheda Town Eagles
On a perfect morning for a football this top of the table clash saw two teams entertain the crowd with some excellent football throughout. A close start to the game had both teams keeping the ball and passing neatly. It was the home side who broke the deadlock first after a swift move from the backs, releasing Eoghan Murphy on the left wing. His pace allowed him to get to the by-line and cross perfectly for Adam Leech to slam home from close range.
It took Drogheda Town only a few minutes to get back into the game. Responding quickly to a through ball from David Dunne, it was Joe Comiskey sprinting clear on the left wing, holding off 2 defenders he drove the ball to the front post where Gareth Nomayo was alert and tapped in.
Town now began to take more control in the midfield with Adam Kelly now beginning to pull the strings with Dunne. It was Kelly who created the next real chance, using quick feet and an intelligent through ball he released Nomayo who's first time drive was excellently saved by the Walshestown keeper. Both sides had further efforts before half time, but neither team looked like taking the lead at that stage, however the commitment was fully visible.
The second half saw the games energy levels increase even further. Drogheda Town continued to push forward and got their reward after Ryan Connolly won his team a corner. Kelly floated in a superb ball finding the head of Nomayo who's powerful header found the top corner. Walshestown went searching for the equaliser but all efforts were safely gathered by the impressive Sean Flanagan. From his delivery to Cilian McLoughlin, the full back played a superb ball to Calum Sheedy who's shot was pushed around the post for a corner. Again, Kelly's delivery was accurate, this time finding Alex Blakeman Fowler who flicked on to Keith Floyd to finish neatly. With a two goal advantage, the visitors began to find more holes in the Walshestown defence as they pushed forward trying to close the gap. Alan Bowden and Eoghan Brennan played smart through balls turning the defence, and forcing the keeper into further saves from Dunne, Conor McGuirk and Connolly.
Try as them might,Walshestown were unable to break through again and were caught on the rebound as Daniel Kirwan found Sheedy who kept a cool head to finish neatly. Conor Mcquail continued to sweep up at the back for Drogheda Town until the final whistle called a halt to a superb game.

U/9 Cup Gr 1 Red. Jan 31st 2015.
Dromin Junction 1-4 DROGHEDA TOWN EAGLES
On a very fresh and freezing cold Saturday morning in Dromin saw 2 teams of very brave U9's take to the field. Both teams were up for it and looking forward to a great cup tie, but it was Town's midfielder Shane Reilly who opened the scoring, when he curled a ball in straight form a corner kick. David Bulgarims, moved in between the sticks only a couple of weeks ago, and what a keeper he has turned out to be, blocking everything Dromin created. The Eagles kept the pressure on, with fantastic play from both left and right wingers, Bryan Kellet and Calum McDonald with dazzling displays of close control and crossing, keeping Towns two strikers Bobby Irwin and John Bird busy in the opposition box. Their persistence paid off, and Kellet smashed home Towns second after a mad scramble in the box. In to the second half, and on comes Killian Smyth and Charlie Eccles, some brilliant defensive work and tackles, thwart the Dromin attacks. Town continue to press on up front, which led to a fine finish from Andrew Brady to get Town's third. Fair play to Dromin, never giving up, and came right back into the game, midway through 2nd half, they scored, but the town defence of Mark McLoughlin and Oisin Lamb was superb the whole match. Then Reilly added his second and Town's 4th with a brilliant free kick flying into top corner. Great game of football from these two team and a testament to the lads and all the effort they put into training, keep up the good work and enjoy. Coaches Fran, Noel and Aidan are delighted with the lads efforts.
Well done all.

Drogheda Town Eagles 1 - 0 Drogheda Boys Boca - Cup Semi Final 5th April 2014
Saturday saw another fantastic advert for cup football. Drogheda Town hoping to keep their league and cup double ambitions alive were severely tested in this hard fought local derby. The Eagles started the brighter with two swift moves ending in fine shots from Alan Bowden and Alex Blakeman Fowler. Drogheda Boys responded well and too came close, only to see Sean McQuail stand firm at the heart of the home sides defence. His powerful clearance set Adam Kelly free along the right wing. Kelly did well to link with Bowden who in turn found Ryan Connolly who narrowly fired wide.
Joe Comiskey worked hard up front closing down the Boca defenders, his pressure created another opportunity for Blakeman Fowler whose shot was well saved by the visitor's keeper. The away side started to pass the ball well in midfield and opened up Drogheda Towns defence, but an excellent stop from Sean Flanagan kept the scores level. With ten minutes to haf time the break though finally came. An excellent move by the Eagles started at the back when the impressive Eoghan Brennan played a short ball to Adam Kelly in midfield. He had runners outside him and was looking to pass wide, but suddenly switched inside leaving 2 defenders behind. Looking up, he picked out a fine cross field pass to Ryan Connolly who had taken up an excellent position on the edge of the box. His well timed run allowed him to meet Kelly's cross at full speed, slamming the ball high into the net.
Boca rallied straight from the restart and were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Eagles box. With the wall set, it was up to Flanagan again to pull off an excellent stop as the ball was heading for the top corner. From the resulting corner, again Flanagan was called into action, tipping a point blank drive up into the air. He remained alert and palmed away the follow up header from the Boca striker which was then cleared off the line from the vigilant Kelly. Town responded well and Comiskey was only denied after a fantastic one handed save from the Boca keeper who was having an outstanding game.
The second half saw Boca push hard for the equaliser. The Eagles defence and midfield worked extremely hard to maintain their clean sheet. Keith Floyd was putting in a magnificent shift in the middle of the defence in tandem with McQuail and Brennan. Moments later, it was Brennan who came closest with a rasping free-kick which wasn't far of target, leaving the Boca keeper scrambling across his line. Drogheda Town used their speed up front when hitting Boca on the break. Two excellent opportunities fell to Conor McGuirk and Daniel Kirwan. Both we very unlucky to see their efforts slide narrowly by the post.
The final whistle saw Drogheda Town reach the final for the second season in a row. A great game and hard fought win for the home side.

Into extra time, and neither side could break the deadlock, so onto penalties and it was the DROGHEDA TOWN EAGLES who came out on top, with some very well taken spot kicks, 5-4 the narrow winning margin.

U13 League Cup Semi Final - 1st April 2014
Boyne Rovers vs DROGHEDA TOWN HAWKS, St.Joseph’s CBS
Drogheda Town started the strongest with the first chance falling to Bema Meite, whose pace put him clean through the defense, only to blast wide.
The Hawks kept the pressure up, and were awarded a penalty when Fanifosi was taken down as he cut inside. O' Connell stepped up, struck it well, only to see it saved by the Rovers keeper, Sean Connors.
Back the Town came again, this time, Mathew Askins hit the post, and finally, the break through, they deserved, O'Driscoll finishing well from 10 yards out.
Hawks started as they finished and Meite's pace again thwarted the Rovers defence as he broke through to score from close range. When O'Connell toe-poked home the Hawks third there was no coming back from Rovers.
A great team effort by all on the night and stand out performances from Fanifosi and Caffrey in the middle. Well done our HAWKS.

Under 11's - 28/9/2013
Drogheda Town Eagles 3 - 1 Drogheda Boys Boca
Drogheda Town Eagles continued their unbeaten start to the season with a well deserved win over their local rivals, Drogheda Boys. The home side started the better with early chances falling to Joe Comiskey and Ryan Connolly. They continued to press forward and were rewarded after a fine corner delivery from Alan Bowden found Connolly at the back post, where he hammered home from close range. The visitors were finding it hard to get into their usual rhythm and found themselves two down within minutes as Bowden's drive from distance squeezed under the their unlucky keeper.
Adam Kelly, shone in midfield, working tirelessly along with Bowden and Connolly. Up front, Gareth Namayo was dragging the visiting defenders all over the pitch, allowing space and time for Alex Blakeman Fowler to fire home from the edge of the box. Just before half time Drogheda Boys had the chance to pull at least one back, but found no way past Sean Flannagan, making two fine saves to keep the visitors out.
Several early clearances from Sean McQuail and Keith Floyd kept the pressure off, but Drogheda Boys did find the net after an excellent strike low into the corner gave Flannagan no chance.
Eoghan Brennan excelled at the back for the Eagles. He was comfortable on the ball, and worked the space available to him coming into midfield and driving his team forward. Two super dead ball efforts almost rewarded him with a deserved goal.
Similar to the workman like performance in the first half, Connor McGuirk and Daniel Kirwan kept the engine room ticking over, in the latter stages. Both showed excellent confidence and skill taking on their defenders and making chances for their team mates.
Top their credit Drogheda Boys continued to push forward right to the very end. Flannagan was again called into action saving well and keeping the goal difference to two.
